Background:

The Senior Lecturer and Clinical Facility Manager at Daspoort Polyclinic provides integrated academic, clinical, managerial, and interprofessional leadership at the facility. The post holder is simultaneously the academic lead for Family Medicine teaching and learning at the site, the clinical governance authority for a high-volume primary health care and training environment, the manager of a large multidisciplinary clinical and academic team, and the principal institutional representative in the University's partnership with the Gauteng Department of Health at this site.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Clinical facility management and governance;
• Interprofessional education and multidisciplinary team leadership;
• Undergraduate and Postgraduate teaching, Registrar training, and CPD;
• Research and Community engagement;
• Continuing Professional Development and Academic Capacity Development.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Master’s degree in Family Medicine;
• At least three accredited publications;
• Three years teaching experience;
• Proof of registration as a Family Physician with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):

• Computer literacy (MS Word and Excel);
• Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a multidisciplinary and interprofessional clinical and academic team in a complex, high-volume primary health care and training environment;
• Sound knowledge of and commitment to interprofessional education and collaborative practice, with demonstrated experience in designing or delivering interprofessional learning activities;
• Good verbal and written communication skills;
• Good interpersonal and mentoring skills;
• Excellent clinical skills in primary health care and family medicine, including management of common acute and chronic conditions, mental health, substance use, geriatric care, and maternal and child health in an under-resourced community setting;
• Ability to develop and sustain collaborative relationships with government health authorities, community organisations, donors, and academic partners;
• Proactive and goal-oriented nature;
• Leadership qualities;
• Dedicated to professional development, including obtaining a Doctoral degree (if not yet obtained)

ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:

• PhD in Family Medicine;
• A Code 10 Drivers licence with PDP;

The all-inclusive remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbent’s level of appointment, as determined by UP policy and Occupation Specific Dispensation salary guidelines. UP subscribes to the BESTMED and UMVUZO medical aid schemes.
