Medical Aid rate based on principal member only) To be confirmed Advert Closing Date 19/7/2026 Job Purpose To support the department with academic lecturing to students and assessment of various subject areas in Radiation Therapy at BSc level, undertake research and supervision/co-supervision of postgraduate students, contribute to curriculum development and review as well as facilitating and coordination of work integrated learning.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience Minimum requirements for Senior Lecturer:

(Please note that preference will be given to candidates that meet the minimum requirements at Senior Lecturer level)

• A doctoral degree in the Radiography (Radiation Therapy) or equivalent qualification
• At least four (4) years relevant lecturing experience in Higher Education and/or five (5) years clinical experience in Radiation Therapy
• Current registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Radiation Therapist, independent practice
• Current and updated Continuous Professional Development portfolio
• A record of postgraduate student supervision and publications in accredited journals
• A postgraduate qualification in Higher Education (recommended)
• Experience in clinical supervision of Radiation Therapy students (recommended)
• Preference will be given to applicants with lecturing experience

• A Master’s degree in Radiography (Radiation Therapy) or equivalent qualification
• At least two (2) years lecturing experience at higher education institution and/or four (4) years’ clinical experience in Radiation Therapy
• Current registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Radiation Therapist, independent practice
• Current and updated Continuous Professional Development portfolio
• Experience in clinical supervision of Radiation Therapy students (recommended)
• A postgraduate qualification in Higher Education (recommended)

• Preference will be given to applicants with lecturing experience Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities

• Lecturing to students and conducting assessments of various subject areas in Radiation Therapy at BSc level
• Conduct clinical teaching and training in Radiation Therapy including tutorials, practical demonstrations and assessments at all levels, covering all relevant areas within Radiation Therapy and liaison with clinical facilities in which work integrated learning takes place
• Partake in clinical teaching for the Provincial Department of Health, Western Cape Government and private practices
• Assist with the coordination of the Radiation Therapy programme and liaison with clinical facilities in which work integrated learning takes place
• Academic and clinical programme planning and management, inclusive of associated organization and administrative duties
• Participate in Curriculum development and ongoing quality and programme review
• Build partnerships with industry and communities through e.g. service-learning projects
• Participate in research and supervision/ co-supervision of master’s students (for lecturer position) and Doctoral students (for Senior lecturer position)
• Plan, coordinate and supervise academic activities
• Identify at risk students, develop intervention strategies and monitor student progress
• Be involved and assist with quality assurance and regulatory body accreditation
• Conduct research and contribute towards departmental research output
• Perform other functions as may be assigned by the head of department
