Job description

Key responsibilities include the following:

  • Formulation and implementation of a financial and credit strategy for the Student Finance Office aligned to the overall University strategy

  • Responsible for the Overall Management of the ongoing operations of the Student Finance Office

  • Ensuring that the principles of governance are instilled and adhered to and that policy and process in line with relevant legislation is documented and that staff and wider stakeholders are trained and informed.

  • Ensure that the Student Finance Office provides excellent service to all its stakeholders by formulating and implementing a stakeholder management strategy.

  • Ensure that there are efficient and effective processes to facilitate registration and graduation, monitor closely and intervene where required to ensure ongoing efficiencies.

  • Ensure that efficient and effective documented standard operating procedures in line with the Debt Collection Policy and Strategy are in place and are reviewed and updated regularly and timeously.

  • Ensure active and improved debt collection supporting the university’s sustainability strategy.

  • Ensure efficient and effective documented standard operating procedures for student fees receipts management in line with Policy and Strategy are in place and reviewed and updated regularly and timeously.

  • Ensure that receipts management procedures are fully operational and effective and efficient.

  • Overall management of all student bursaries, including University Council and administered bursaries and scholarships, internal donor funds, and external sponsorships.

  • A strong administrative office to be in place to support the Student Finance Office’s day to day processing, administration and reconciliations.

Requirements:

  • CA (SA)

  • At least 5 years Management Experience with a demonstrated track record, preferably in a University environment

  • Membership of an appropriate membership body

  • At least 8 to 10 years of work-related experience, preferably in a University environment and specifically within Student Finance
