Minimum Requirements

• National Diploma in Payroll Administration, Human Resources Management, or a related field (Essential/Minimum)
• Certificate in Payroll (Essential/Minimum)
• Diploma in Payroll Management (Recommended/Desirable)
• Minimum of 3 years' experience within an integrated payroll administration environment, including payroll governance, statutory compliance, reconciliations, payroll systems, payroll data analysis, and customer support
• Proficiency in SAP SuccessFactors Payroll, SAP HCM, or other cloud-based payroll platforms (added advantage)
• Competence in SAP Position Specific Module (Essential/Minimum)
• Competence in MS Office Relevant Package (Essential/Minimum)
• Psychometric Assessment (Essential/Minimum) (To be conducted by Exxaro)
• Certificate of Fitness (Essential/Minimum) (To be conducted by Exxaro)
• Strong understanding of payroll risk management, reconciliation, audit processes, and legislative compliance
• Demonstrated ability to execute accurate end-to-end payroll processing, resolve payroll queries, and support payroll digital transformation initiatives

Duties & Responsibilities

• Ensure accurate and timely end-to-end payroll processing in compliance with legislative and organisational governance requirements.
• Maintain and improve payroll data integrity, supporting master data governance across HR and payroll systems such as HCM, SAP, and SuccessFactors.
• Provide specialist payroll support to internal stakeholders through effective problem-solving, advisory services and client-centric service delivery.
• Execute payroll risk management, controls, reconciliations and audit activities to guarantee payroll accuracy, compliance, financial and data integrity.
• Manage payroll calculations, validations, exception management and reporting, including month-end and year-end processes.
• Collaborate with internal and external customers to resolve payroll-related queries within agreed service levels and maintain strong stakeholder relationships.
• Support payroll digital transformation initiatives by contributing to system implementations, upgrades, testing, automation, and continuous improvement efforts.
• Oversee payroll data quality through regular audits, monitoring, and prompt resolution of discrepancies to ensure reliable payroll execution.
• Supervise the posting of payroll results to financial accounts, ensuring accurate ledger integration and error-free payroll transactions.
• Promote knowledge sharing, best practices, and continuous process optimisation to standardise and simplify payroll operations while managing critical functional risks.
