About Us
Decofurn is a leading furniture retailer with multiple stores nationwide and a growing online presence. We focus on building strong, efficient support functions that keep our business running smoothly, from finance and HR to payroll and administration.
The Role
We are looking for a detail-driven, results-oriented Senior Payroll Administrator to oversee the payroll function at our Head Office in Montague Gardens, Cape Town. You’ll manage end-to-end payroll processes, ensure compliance with legal and company requirements, resolve payroll discrepancies, and support both employees and management while supervising the junior payroll administrator.
What You’ll Do
- Oversee end-to-end payroll processing for all employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Process salaries, bonuses, deductions, overtime, and leave.
- Reconcile time & attendance records and resolve discrepancies in consultation with management.
- Administer employee benefits (pension & risk), including new hires, terminations, and monthly reconciliations.
- Ensure statutory compliance with SARS and other regulatory bodies and submit required tax reports on time.
- Conduct payroll audits, prepare reports, and highlight discrepancies for management attention.
- Act as the primary point of contact for payroll queries, providing guidance and resolving issues promptly.
- Maintain and improve payroll systems, documentation, and processes.
- Supervise, support, and mentor the Junior Payroll Administrator.
What You’ll Need
- Grade 12 or equivalent.
- 5+ years’ payroll administration experience (end-to-end).
- Payroll diploma/degree (essential).
- Strong knowledge of tax submissions (EMP201, EMP501, IRP5s, ROE, etc.).
- Experience with employment contracts and HR/payroll practices.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook (intermediate to advanced).
- Sage Payroll experience – highly advantageous.
- Excellent numerical accuracy, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of current SARS, Department of Labour, and Home Affairs legislation – advantageous.
