Role Overview
The Senior Project Manager is responsible for leading the successful delivery of complex technology and business projects across multiple stakeholders and teams. The role ensures projects are delivered on time, within scope, budget, and quality expectations while driving strong customer relationships, governance excellence, and effective resource utilisation. The Senior Project Manager also plays a key leadership role within the PMO by mentoring junior project managers, improving delivery practices, and contributing to a culture of continuous improvement and delivery excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of projects, ensuring alignment to scope, timelines, budget, and customer expectations.
- Manage project governance, reporting, risk management, and stakeholder communication across assigned projects.
- Identify, manage, and mitigate project risks, issues, and dependencies proactively.
- Drive project delivery predictability and operational excellence across project portfolios.
- Monitor resource allocation and utilisation to ensure alignment with contracted capacity and project requirements.
- Escalate resource variances, delivery risks, and operational concerns where appropriate.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships through proactive communication and engagement.
- Respond to client feedback and drive resolution of project delivery or customer satisfaction concerns.
- Ensure adherence to PMO governance frameworks, delivery standards, and reporting requirements.
- Facilitate project reviews, retrospectives, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Mentor and support associate and intermediate project managers through coaching and knowledge sharing.
- Contribute to team engagement, collaboration, and delivery culture initiatives within the PMO.
Essential Skills & Experience
- 5+ years’ experience managing technology, software, or business transformation projects.
- Proven experience delivering projects successfully within scope, budget, and agreed timelines.
- Strong stakeholder management and customer engagement skills.
- Experience managing project risks, governance, reporting, and escalation processes.
- Strong understanding of project management methodologies, frameworks, and delivery lifecycles.
- Experience managing resource planning, utilisation tracking, and project financial oversight.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation skills.
- Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced and dynamic environments.
- Experience mentoring or coaching junior project management team members.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience working within PMO or portfolio delivery environments.
- Exposure to Agile, Scrum, or hybrid project delivery methodologies.
- Experience within technology consulting, software development, or managed services environments.
- Exposure to customer satisfaction measurement frameworks such as NPS.
- Experience driving process improvement and governance maturity initiatives.
Qualifications
- Relevant degree or diploma in Business, Project Management, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Project Management certifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, Agile, or Scrum certifications are advantageous.
