(Land Bank) is South Africa’s only specialist agricultural bank established in 1912, the bank’s sole objective is to serve South African commercial and emerging farmers and bring specially designed financial services within their reach. These services enable farmers to finance land, equipment, improve assets and obtain production credit. As change has swept across the sector in South Africa the socio-economic makeup of agriculture has altered, bringing new entrants from historically disadvantaged backgrounds on to the land, these new farmers, facing the challenges of establishing sustainable agri-businesses across the agricultural value chain, Land Bank has been a commercial lifeline offering appropriately designed financial products that facilitate personal and commercial viability in a sector that is vital to the sustainability of South Africa and its people.
Responsible for the administration of all SAP environments and instances, ensuring their optimal performance and availability. Administration includes configuration, transport management, monitoring, tuning and troubleshooting. Ensuring that changes are implemented in line with the change control process and the execution of backup and recovery processes. Perform system sizing, architecture and design of the technical landscape down to the level of hardware layout according to SAP best practices and recommendations.
Manages upgrade processes including functional and technical specifications. Provides support to the end user. Handles new installs, upgrades and maintenance. Integration of SAP with other systems.
This role also includes basic administration of databases to ensure effective maintenance and management.
Key Performance Areas

Maintaining SAP Infrastructure & Databases:
- Allocate hardware resources to ensure optimal performance and resilience of SAP applications and databases.
- Plan and execute periodic maintenance for SAP systems.
- Provide trend analysis for informed resource management.
- Proactively monitor systems using EarlyWatch to minimize downtime.
- Review projects and recommend tools to support SAP requirements.
- Perform system checks for early detection of potential failures.

SAP Troubleshooting & Maintenance:
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues in SAP Production, Quality Assurance, and Development environments.
- Maintain environments through patch management and upgrades.
- Handle database changes, SAP portal integration, and transport processes across environments following change control procedures.
- Support authorization maintenance as needed.

SAP Backup & Recovery:
- Manage automated backup and recovery processes for SAP systems.
- Design and implement a Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP) for timely system recovery.
- Conduct regular data refreshes for QA and DEV environments.

SAP User Support:
- Provide support by troubleshooting errors, investigating bugs, and coordinating with SAP for fixes.
- Handle technical support calls for SAP end users.

SAP System Architecture & Migration:
- Size hardware to ensure optimal system performance.
- Perform system import/export following SAP guidelines and manage defragmentation.
- Manage OS and database migrations and design server layouts for installations.

MSSQL Database Administration:
- Ensure availability and performance of Land Bank databases.
- Troubleshoot, create databases, and manage backups and recovery processes.
Preferred Minimum Education and Experience
Minimum Qualification:
- 3 Year tertiary qualification in Technology, Computer Science or Information Systems
- SAP BASIS certification
Minimum Experience:
- 10 years as a SAP BASIS Administrator and Transport management and batch job scheduling procedures
- 7 years experience in: In depth SAP Database Administration, managing multiple SAP environments including upgrades, in monitoring and tuning a SAP environment and database to provide a high availability service and the configuration and use of EarlyWatch and systems copies
- 3 years experience in SAP Authorizations
