Information Technology Senior Systems Engineer: Card and Monitoring Systems (Post Level 7) (Stellenbosch Campus) Ref. IT/348/0826 The incumbent will be part of a team responsible for maintaining and administering electronic card access systems, student card payment systems, and CCTV systems.

Duties/Pligte

• Managing and monitoring all installed access control, card payment and CCTV systems infrastructure.
• Installing, configuring, maintaining, and updating access control, card payment and CCTV systems software.
• Proactively ensuring the highest levels of availability for access control, card payment and CCTV systems infrastructure.
• Maintaining security, backup, and redundancy for access control, card payment and CCTV
• systems.
• Developing and maintaining integration services.
• Providing 2nd- and 3rd-level support to all technical personnel handling card and monitoring systems.
• Liaising with vendors and other IT personnel to resolve issues.
• Automation and security hardening.
• Setting up and maintaining SQL-type databases.
• Willingness and availability for after-hour duties.

Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes

• Degree in engineering or computer science.
• At least five years' experience working as systems engineer.
• Proven working experience in installing, configuring and troubleshooting UNIX /Linux based environments.
• Proven working experience in installing, configuring and troubleshooting electronic card access and CCTV systems.
• Solid programings skills in PHP or C++.
• Experience in REST, JSON, SOAP, XML.
• Solid bash scripting skills.
• Proven working experience in Postgresql and MSSql database programming.
• Excellent communication, personal and governance skills.
• The ability to work accurately under pressure.

• Microsoft SQL and/or Postgresql/Mysql experience.
