We're looking for an experienced SEO Specialist to help us improve our organic search presence during an initial one-month engagement.

The Role

This is a flexible freelance position requiring approximately 1–5 hours per week for an initial one-month contract.

You'll work directly with the founder to identify high-impact SEO opportunities and help implement a practical strategy for growing organic traffic.

Responsibilities

• Perform a technical SEO review of our website
• Conduct keyword research for the South African market
• Recommend improvements to on-page SEO
• Optimise page titles, meta descriptions, headings and internal linking
• Identify opportunities for local SEO
• Advise on content strategy and topic clusters
• Recommend improvements to indexing, crawling and site structure
• Monitor Google Search Console and provide actionable recommendations
• Help develop a long-term SEO roadmap
• Track progress and report on results

Requirements

We're looking for someone who:

• Has proven SEO experience with measurable results
• Understands technical SEO and website architecture
• Has experience with Google Search Console and Google Analytics
• Is comfortable working with modern websites and web applications
• Can explain recommendations clearly and prioritise high-impact improvements
• Understands South African search behaviour and local SEO (preferred)

Experience with marketplaces, directories or SaaS products is an advantage.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Ruby on Rails websites
• Experience using Ahrefs, SEMrush, Screaming Frog or similar tools
• Knowledge of Core Web Vitals
• Experience improving SEO for local service businesses
