Service Advisor – Truck Industry

We are looking for a customer-focused, organised, and technically minded Service Advisor to join our team in the commercial truck industry. The successful candidate will act as the link between customers and the workshop, ensuring that vehicle repairs and maintenance are managed efficiently, professionally, and within agreed timelines.

The ideal candidate must have good communication skills, strong administrative abilities, and a solid understanding of truck servicing and repairs. The ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced workshop environment is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive customers and assist with truck service and repair enquiries.
• Open, manage, and close job cards accurately.
• Assess customer concerns and communicate repair requirements to the workshop team.
• Liaise with workshop managers, technicians, parts departments, and customers.
• Prepare and communicate quotations for repairs, servicing, and maintenance.
• Obtain customer authorisation before proceeding with additional repairs.
• Provide regular updates to customers regarding repair progress and expected completion times.
• Monitor workshop jobs to ensure work is completed within agreed deadlines.
• Explain technical findings, repairs, and maintenance requirements to customers.
• Ensure all job cards, invoices, quotations, and service records are accurate and up to date.
• Follow up on outstanding work, parts availability, and customer queries.
• Handle customer complaints professionally and assist with resolving service-related issues.
• Promote customer satisfaction and maintain professional relationships with fleet operators and truck owners.
• Ensure compliance with company procedures, workshop standards, and health and safety requirements.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 / Matric.
• Previous experience as a Service Advisor, preferably in the truck, diesel, automotive, or commercial vehicle industry.
• Good understanding of truck servicing, maintenance, and mechanical repairs.
• Experience working with job cards, quotations, and workshop administration.
• Computer literacy and the ability to work with workshop management systems.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organisational and administrative skills.
• Ability to manage multiple jobs and priorities in a busy workshop environment.
• Strong customer service and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
