Job description

SA Power is looking for a Service Technician to join our Cape Town branch.

This role is suited to an experienced Electrician or Millwright with a strong background in industrial automation. You will provide technical support to customers, diagnose faults, carry out on-site installations and upgrades, and assist with technical queries throughout the Western Cape.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Provide on-site technical service and support on SA Power service-related products.
  • Perform fault-finding, upgrades and on-site installations.
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical and basic mechanical faults. Mechanical repairs on agency-related products are carried out by the Johannesburg workshop.
  • Responsible for technical projects after they have been handed over to the Service Team.
  • Provide technical support to customers both on-site and telephonically.
  • Complete job cards, timesheets and logbooks accurately and timeously.
  • Prepare quotations for repairs and assist with sales activities within the region.
  • Build and maintain customer relationships while promoting SA Power's products, services and training.
  • Travel within the region to provide customer support and attend site visits.

Minimum requirements

  • Grade 12.
  • Qualified Electrician or Millwright with a recognised Trade Test Certificate.
  • Previous experience servicing and fault-finding industrial electrical or automation equipment.
  • Strong electrical fault-finding skills, including hardwired control circuits.
  • Valid driver's licence.
  • Willing to work flexible hours, including overtime and occasional weekends when required.

The following experience will be advantageous

  • AC drives.
  • Electrical panel building.
  • Electrical wiring and fault-finding.
  • Hardwired control circuits.
  • Basic PLC programming (Ladder Logic and Structured Text).
