SHEQ Officer

1. Purpose of the Role

The Site SHEQ Officer ensures that all AvenirHoldings personnel working on Client sites under the QS scope comply with the Client's Safety, Health and Environment Quality (SHEQ) standards, PPE requirements and induction protocols, protecting both personnel safety and AvenirHoldings' contractual standing with the Client.

2. Key Responsibilities

• Ensure all AvenirHoldings personnel hold valid Client site inductions and medical clearances before site access (Annexure A, clause 1).

• Monitor and enforce use of Client-approved PPE materials for all site-based QS and measurement staff (clause 1).

• Ensure QS team activities adhere to the Client SHE standards and contractual SHE obligations at all times (clause 1.45).

• Support reporting of deviations or incidents observed during measurement/site activities for possible Non-Conformance Reports (clause 1.34).

• Coordinate SHEQ induction scheduling and renewal tracking for new and existing team members ahead of mobilisation.

• Liaise with the Client SHEQ representatives on site-access requirements, permits and safety briefings relevant to QS site work.

• Maintain SHE compliance records and safety files to support AvenirHoldings' ISO 45001 obligations and contract audits.

• Conduct periodic toolbox talks/briefings for QS and measurement staff on site-specific hazards.

3. Minimum Qualifications & Registration

• SAMTRAC certificate or equivalent (NEBOSH/relevant OHS qualification).

• Registration with SACPCMP or equivalent professional body advantageous.

4. Experience Required

• Minimum 6-8 years' SHEQ experience in an industrial, petrochemical, mining or construction environment.

• Prior experience working within or alongside Client SHE systems strongly preferred.

5. Technical Skills & Knowledge

• Sound knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Construction Regulations.

• Familiarity with the Client's site induction, permit-to-work and PPE requirements.

• Incident/near-miss reporting and basic risk-assessment skills.

6. Behavioural Competencies

• High vigilance and a safety-first mindset.

• Assertive in enforcing compliance, even under operational time pressure.

• Clear communicator able to run inductions and toolbox talks confidently.

7. Key Working Relationships

• Client SHEQ representatives and site security/access control.

• Principal QS and site-based QS/measurement staff.

• AvenirHoldings SHEQ/Quality & Audit Manager.

8. Work Conditions

• Site-based role requiring regular presence across multiple Client operational areas.

• Must maintain own SHE certifications, medical clearance and Client induction at all times.
