SHE OFFICER (CHSO)

About the Role
CDR Contracts is seeking a qualified and experienced SHE Officer (CHSO) to
join our team in Simon's Town. The successful candidate will be responsible for
ensuring compliance with Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) standards,
legal requirements, client specifications, and company policies while promoting
a strong safety culture across the site.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with SHE legislation, company standards, and client
requirements.
- Conduct risk assessments, develop method statements, and manage HIRA
processes.
- Facilitate and coordinate SHE training and awareness campaigns.
- Investigate incidents and manage case reporting through Synergy
systems.
- Conduct audits and inspections and ensure corrective actions are
implemented.
- Monitor and manage PPE, safety equipment, and site safety resources.
- Prepare weekly and monthly SHE reports and project statistics.
- Implement and maintain emergency response plans and safety
management plans.
- Drive the "Home Safe Every Day" safety culture across the project.
Minimum Requirements
- Registered with SACPCMP as a CHSO (Construction Health & Safety
Officer).
- OHS Practitioner (NQF 5) qualification.
- Safety Officer qualification.
- Minimum 5 years' experience as a Registered Safety Officer (CHSO).
- Experience in a Marine, Naval Base, Shipyard, or Workshop
environment.
- Valid Code B Driver's Licence.
- Medically fit for duty and able to work in confined spaces, at heights, and
in heat-stress environments.
Advantageous Qualifications
- NEBOSH Diploma.
- NEBOSH International Diploma.
- BCom Operational Risk (NQF 6)
Required Knowledge & Skills
- Incident and case management.
- HIRA, risk assessments, and safe work procedures.
- OHS Act and legal compliance.
- ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 systems.
- Emergency response planning and management.
- Strong Microsoft Office and computer literacy skills.
- Excellent communication and reporting abilities.
- Ability to facilitate toolbox talks, safety campaigns, and training sessions.
