SHEQ OFFICER – WITBANK BASED

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The purpose of this role is to facilitate, coordinate and support the implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of the Company's Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) systems and processes. The role is responsible for supporting the achievement of SHEQ objectives, ensuring compliance with applicable legislation and standards, and coordinating SHEQ requirements for the Company's manufacturing operations and site-service activities.

REPORTING STRUCTURE / SCOPE OF CONTROL

• Report directly to the SHEQ Manager and support the SHEQ Manager with the implementation and monitoring of SHEQ objectives and initiatives.
• Escalate matters requiring management judgement or decisions to the SHEQ Manager.
• Maintain effective communication with employees at all levels up to HOD level.
• Maintain professional working relationships with customers, suppliers, contractors and service providers.
• Coordinate SHEQ requirements with internal and external stakeholders.

KEY COMPETENCIES, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

• Detailed knowledge and understanding of Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality requirements.
• Proven experience working in a target-driven manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge and practical experience in hazard identification and risk assessment.
• Sound knowledge of applicable Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental legislation.
• Knowledge of legislation and SHEQ requirements applicable to the mining and manufacturing industries.
• Working knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act, 1996 (Act 29 of 1996), where applicable.
• Knowledge of environmental compliance, waste management and pollution prevention.
• Strong administrative and organisational skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Ability to conduct investigations and identify root causes.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and take accountability for assigned responsibilities.

REQUIREMENTS

• Relevant qualification in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Management, or Quality Management.
• Demonstrable experience in a SHEQ-related role within an industrial or construction environment.
• Strong knowledge of health, safety, environmental, and quality legislation applicable in South Africa.
• Proven track record of conducting audits and risk assessments effectively.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.

• Ensure all duties are performed in accordance with Company policies, procedures and applicable legislation.
• Maintain professional relationships with employees, management, customers, suppliers, contractors and service providers.
• Participate in SHEQ projects and initiatives as required.
• Perform any other reasonable duties within the scope of the position as instructed by management.
