Shop assistant

The Shop Assistant is responsible for providing excellent customer service and assisting with the day-to-day operations of the water shop. The role includes serving customers, processing sales, handling water products, maintaining cleanliness, managing stock, and ensuring that customers receive their orders accurately and efficiently.

The Shop Assistant must represent Aqualiz Water professionally and contribute to a clean, welcoming, and well-organised shop environment.

1. Key Responsibilities

A. Customer Service

• Welcome and assist customers in a friendly and professional manner with refilling their bottles or other purchase.
• Answer questions regarding water products, prices, deliveries, and rentals.
• Handle customer complaints and refer unresolved issues to the supervisor.
• Ensure customers receive their orders correctly and promptly.
• Maintain good and professional relationships with regular customers.

· Answer the phone and operate whatsapp.

· Handle bottling and packaging of bottled water.

· Operate the point of sale daily.

B. Sales & Cash Handling

• Process customer purchases accurately.
• Issue receipts and ensure all transactions are properly recorded.
• Balance cash and sales at the end of the day.
• Report any discrepancies immediately to the Manager.

C. Water Products & Stock

• Receive and check incoming stock.
• Assist with loading and unloading water bottles and related products.
• Ensure bottles and products are stored safely and correctly.
• Monitor stock levels and notify the Manager when stock is running low.
• Check bottles for damage, leaks, contamination, or other visible defects.
• Ensure returned bottles and rental equipment are properly accounted for.
• Keep the shop and storage areas organised.

D. Shop Cleanliness & Hygiene

• Maintain a clean and hygienic shop at all times.
• Clean counters, shelves, floors and customer areas regularly.
• Ensure water products are handled hygienically.
• Keep waste bins clean and dispose of waste appropriately.
• Report any hygiene or safety concerns immediately.

E. Customer Collections & Deliveries

• Prepare customer orders for collection or delivery.
• Verify quantities before handing orders to customers or drivers.
• Record bottles, dispensers and other equipment leaving the premises.
• Ensure delivery documentation is completed correctly.

F. requirements

· Be south African

· Have matric (Minimum)

· Minimum of 1 year in sales, customer service or related role.

· Ability to pay attention to detail and cleanliness.

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

· Honest and reliable.

· Good communication skills.

Willingness’ to learn how the water business works.
