Job description
Constantia Florist is looking for a reliable, friendly and hardworking Shop Assistant & Delivery Driver to join our team.
This is a varied role within our busy florist, combining deliveries and customer service with general shop assistance and support for our florists. We are looking for someone who is comfortable working independently, enjoys interacting with people and is happy to get involved wherever needed. There is potential for the position to become full-time in the future for the right candidate.
The Role
The position is part-time, 5 days a week, 4.5 hours per day, with a 30-minute lunch break.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Completing daily flower and product deliveries safely, efficiently and with care.
- Ensuring flowers and arrangements are handled carefully during transportation.
- Contacting recipients by phone to arrange suitable delivery times.
- Interacting with customers and delivery recipients in a friendly and professional manner.
- Collecting products, supplies and other items required for the shop as requested by the owner.
- Assisting customers in-store and providing friendly, helpful service.
- Assisting with basic sales and operating our Point of Sale (POS) system and handling payments.
- Helping with general shop duties, including keeping the shop clean and tidy.
- Assisting our florists during busy periods with tasks such as cleaning flowers, preparing flowers and making wraps.
- Providing general assistance wherever required to help keep the shop running smoothly.
Requirements
Essential:
- A valid manual driver's licence.
- A minimum of 2 years' experience driving a manual vehicle.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- A friendly, professional and helpful manner.
- Reliable, punctual and responsible.
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a small team.
Advantageous:
- Previous experience in a shop assistant, retail, delivery driver or similar role.
- Experience working in a florist or flower-related environment.
- Knowledge of flowers and plants.
- A genuine interest in or passion for flowers.
- Experience using a Point of Sale system and handling payments.
