Site Management Team Lead at Siemens Energy
Ensuring the successful execution of transformer installation and service projects for Siemens Energy's Grid Technologies division in Southern & Eastern Africa. The position operates at a Specialist Para-Professional level, providing expert technical supervision and on-site leadership for complex, high-stakes projects involving power transformers and high-voltage equipment. The core objective is to oversee all on-site activities, from initial setup to final commissioning, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards. This involves direct supervision of the technical team, hands-on problem-solving for electromechanical systems, and rigorous enforcement of safety protocols. The role serves as the primary technical authority on-site, guiding the team through complex installation and repair procedures. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise in power transformers and substation environments, combined with proven supervisory experience. This individual must be adept at interpreting engineering drawings, managing on-site logistics, and leading a team of technicians and subcontractors. Strong communication skills are essential for effective coordination with project managers and maintaining excellent customer relationships.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Supervise the on-site installation, assembly, and commissioning of power transformers and associated high-voltage equipment.
- Ensure all installation and service activities comply with engineering drawings, technical specifications, and stringent safety protocols.
- Lead diagnostic and troubleshooting efforts for complex technical issues during transformer installation and service.
- Manage on-site logistics, resource allocation, and project timelines to ensure successful project completion.
- Lead, mentor, and provide technical guidance to a team of field service technicians and subcontractors.
- Conduct daily site briefings and toolbox talks, delegate tasks, and review work quality to maintain high-performance standards.
- Enforce a strict safety culture on-site, ensuring all personnel adhere to health and safety procedures for high-voltage environments.
- Serve as the primary on-site liaison with customers, project managers, and other stakeholders, providing regular progress updates.
- Prepare and maintain accurate site documentation, including daily progress reports, quality assurance records, and final commissioning reports.
What You Bring
- Vocational qualification or National Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current), Electromechanics, or a related technical field.
- Extensive experience supervising the installation and commissioning of power transformers and high-voltage substation equipment.
