Site Manager - Welding & Fabrication

A reputable company runs the welding and fabrication team on an established refinery site in Springs. We need a hands-on Site Manager to take day-to-day ownership of the site: lead the crew, deliver the work to standard, deal directly with the client, manage the people and the paperwork, and keep things moving without constant escalation. You will have a Safety Officer and specialist HR/SHEQ support behind you.

Remuneration: R27 000 to R33 000 cost-to-company per month, depending on demonstrated capability and relevant experience.

What you will own:

- Planning and allocating daily work; keeping the crew productive and the client informed.

- Interpreting drawings, establishing material requirements, and organising work preparation, setting-out and fit-up to support welding and fabrication activities.

- Directing welding and fabrication to approved procedures; controlling quality and rework; recognising unacceptable workmanship.

- Managing your people: attendance, performance, conduct, discipline and routine hours/pay queries.

- Representing the company with the client and following issues through to completion.

- Overseeing site safety with the Safety Officer; controlling labour, overtime and materials against budget; clear daily and weekly reporting.

Qualifications and experience (required):

- Grade 12.

- A Red Seal trade test (boilermaking/welding), a National Diploma, or a degree in a relevant technical field.

- 5 or more years of welding/fabrication experience, including 2 or more years leading a crew.

- Proven ability to run people and a client independently, interpret drawings, and report clearly.

- Sound Excel, Word and email.

Strongly preferred:

- SAIW Welding Inspector Level 1, or IWP/IWS.

Advantageous:

- Coded welding; refinery, petrochemical or plant-maintenance experience; valid driver's licence.

Working arrangements:

Full-time, on-site in Springs (Monday to Thursday 06:00 to 16:00, Friday 06:00 to 13:00, with authorised overtime). Fixed-term contract linked to the site contract, with a probation period. Appointment is subject to client site-access clearance, references and a medical.

Shortlisted candidates complete a short practical exercise. We hire for what you can do on site.

Pay: R27 000,00 - R33 000,00 per month
