Sixty60: Social Media Manager

The purpose of the Social Media Manager role is to develop and implement integrated social media strategies that enhance brand visibility, drive customer engagement, and support commercial objectives across digital platforms. This role is accountable for planning and optimising content delivery, managing platform performance, and leveraging insights and trends to deliver measurable growth and impactful brand presence.

Role Description

Strategy and Planning

  • Develop and implement social media strategies aligned with brand and business objectives.
  • Identify target audiences, define goals, assess the competitive landscape, and determine the most effective social media platforms.
  • Create and manage content calendars, ensuring content is planned, scheduled, and aligned with brand messaging.
  • Stay up to date with platform trends, industry developments, and social media best practices to keep content relevant and engaging.

Content Creation and Management

  • Create engaging, platform-relevant, and shareable content across text, image, and video formats.
  • Ensure all content aligns with the brand's tone of voice, visual identity, and overall brand guidelines.
  • Collaborate with creatives, content creators, and influencers to produce high-quality and effective social media content .
  • Manage social media budgets to ensure content strategies and campaigns are delivered effectively within budget.

Community Engagement and Management

  • Monitor the quality and consistency of community engagement across social platforms
  • Ensure the Customer Engagement Team responds to comments, messages, enquiries, and concerns promptly, professionally, and in the Checkers Sixty60 tone of voice.
  • Monitor brand sentiment and online conversations to identify opportunities, risks, and areas for improvement.

Analytics and Reporting

  • Track, analyse, and report on social media performance metrics across content, campaigns, and overall channel performance.
  • Translate data and insights into actionable recommendations to optimise future strategies and improve results.
  • Monitor competitor activity and industry benchmarks to ensure the brand remains competitive and relevant.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Support and manage paid social media activity, including boosted and promoted posts, to increase reach and achieve campaign objectives.
  • Collaborate with internal marketing and cross-functional teams to ensure integrated and cohesive brand campaigns, including the Checkers Brand, Merchandising and Rainmaker teams.
  • Stay informed about emerging social media tools, technologies, and platform innovations, identifying opportunities to improve performance and efficiency.

Qualifications and experience

  • Degree or Diploma in Marketing, Social media management, communication – (essential).
  • +5 years' experience in Social Media Management, Digital Marketing or similar role, with a proven track record of delivering multiple and large campaigns across digital touchpoints and channels, using analytics to inform and scale successful marketing campaigns - (essential).
  • Skilled and proficient in the use of advertising tools (Google Ads, DV360, Facebook Ad Manager, TikTok, tracking and verification tools) – (essential).
  • Broad knowledge of the media and marketing ecosystem - (essential).
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience of marketing principles and practices including customer journey management and content development experience – (essential).
  • Skilled and proficient in the use of reputation management tools (Meltwater, Brandseye etc) – (advantageous).
  • Strong understanding of the digital media landscape within the broader retail industry – (essential).
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office – (essential).

  • Ability to work under pressure and to organise, prioritise, and reorder workload in a rapidly changing and fast-moving environment. Self-starter with the skill and discipline to work independently and across multi-functional teams.
