Social Auxiliary Worker

The Haven Night Shelter Organisation (www.haven.org.za), a non –governmental organisation working to help the homeless back to a home, family and community, requires the services of Social Auxiliary Worker for The Haven Night Shelter - Moira Henderson House.

The Haven Night Shelter Organisation’s method is to offer social work services, rehabilitation opportunities, family reunification services, physical care and support available to adult people living on the streets who are committed to reintegration.

The Social Auxiliary Workers are for the betterment of the lives of the people we serve (Homeless People). Effective functioning of the social work aspect is pivotal to the success of our organization. The main task is to consult with residents and provide social services to them.

Minimum Duties:-

• The Social Auxiliary Workers will be responsible for the initial intake of clients including their safety and care, Casework and Client Representation, The Annual Social Work Service Delivery Plan & Reports, Group and Community Work, Pension and General Administration, Shelter and Staff, Public Relations.

Minimum Requirements:-

• Code 08 drivers’ license, Social Auxiliary Work Certificate, Ability to interact with clients from different cultures and religions, manage conflict situations, Basic level of computer literacy - MS Office, MS Excel and Outlook, Ability to work as a team player, no criminal record, be in good health and experience in the NGO sector will be an advantage.

Closing Date: 30 September 2026

Basic Salary: R 7000.00 per month
