The Role

We are looking for a Social Media Manager to own and grow Horizon's presence across our social and content channels. You will translate complex, high-value tax topics into clear, engaging, trustworthy content that reaches UK expats and internationally mobile professionals wherever they are in the world. This is a hands-on role for someone who can both think strategically and produce the work — from monthly content calendars to the actual posts, captions, and lightweight graphics.

You will work remotely anywhere, collaborating closely with the founder and aligning your working day with UK business hours so campaigns, client stories, and topical tax updates go out at the right moment.

What You'll Do

• Own the content strategy across LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, and emerging channels, tied to Horizon's services and the UK tax calendar (Self Assessment deadlines, Budget announcements, tax year changes).
• Create and publish write, schedule, and publish posts, captions, short-form video scripts, and carousels that turn technical tax topics into accessible, credible content for a non-specialist audience.
• Produce visuals design on-brand graphics and simple video edits using tools such as Canva; source and brief out anything more advanced.
• Plan and schedule build and manage a rolling monthly content calendar, keeping a consistent posting cadence and a healthy content pipeline.
• Engage the audience respond to comments and messages promptly and professionally, nurture the community, and flag genuine leads to the founder.
• Grow the following grow followers, reach, and engagement, and generate qualified enquiries — always protecting the firm's professional reputation.
• Measure and report track performance against clear KPIs, report monthly on what's working, and adjust the plan based on data.
• Stay current keep an eye on competitors, UK tax news, and platform trends, and turn timely developments into relevant content quickly.
• Safeguard accuracy ensure everything published is accurate, compliant, and consistent with our brand voice — professional, approachable, and clear. (All technical tax content is reviewed by the founder before publishing.)

What We're Looking For

• Experience: 3+ years managing social media for a brand, agency, or professional-services / B2B business, with a portfolio or examples you can show us.
• Writing: excellent written English and a genuine talent for making complicated subjects simple, engaging, and trustworthy.
• Platforms: confident hands-on skills with LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook, plus scheduling tools (e.g. Buffer, Hootsuite, Later, Meta Business Suite).
• Design: comfortable creating polished graphics and simple video in Canva or similar; basic video editing is a strong plus.
• Analytics: able to read engagement and reach data and translate it into decisions, not just report numbers.
• Independence: highly organised, self-motivated, and reliable — you can run the channel independently in a remote setup and hit deadlines without being chased.
• Setup: a stable, high-speed internet connection and a suitable home working setup, with availability that overlaps UK business hours.

Nice to Have

• Experience marketing for accountants, tax, legal, or financial-services firms.
• Understanding of the UK expat / non-resident audience or cross-border finance topics.
• Familiarity with paid social campaigns and a modest ad budget.
• Basic email marketing, SEO, or blog-content experience to complement social.
