Job description
Maternal, Adolescent & Child Health Institute NPC, (MatCH) is a non-profit organisation
supporting public sector health services. MatCH implements donor funded projects to improve HIV and TB outcomes through providing technical assistance and direct service delivery support. MatCH is looking for a suitably qualified candidate to fill the following position under a project aimed at Achieving and Sustaining HIV/TB Epidemic Control in the Eastern Cape Province -Integrated Service Delivery Response.
Location: Chris Hani District
Type of Contract: Fixed Term Contract ending 31 December 2026

Main purpose of the job
The incumbent will provide comprehensive OVC and paediatric HIV services in Chris Hani district working in collaboration with health care workers.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver targeted OVC and paediatric HIV services, ensuring integration with facility-based paediatric platforms, the provision of psychosocial support, caregiver case management, adherence monitoring, and linkage to protection and education services.
- Conduct community-based tracing and follow-up of paediatric and adolescent clients at risk of loss to care is conducted in the three districts
- Conduct household risk assessments to identify support services needed for exposed mother-baby pairs and to provide referrals for children with unknown status for HIV testing
- Conduct mentor visits to provide peer support for adherence to OVC, CLHIV and exposed mother-baby pairs
- Provide linkage services for caregivers living with HIV (CLHIV) to ART, adherence counselling and viral load testing
- Refer and support CLHIV to access nutrition support and services
- Support the delivery of family-based differentiated service delivery models for children and families
- Provide psychosocial and adherence support and counselling to children and caregivers and support disclosure
- Manage performance against targets and the development and implementation of remediation plans
- Provide training, mentoring and capacity building on OVC and CLHIV support services
- Conduct transition readiness assessments and provide support for the transition of sustainable models to the Department of Health and other stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work
- HIV Counselling Certification
- Registration with SACSSP
- 3 years relevant experience in the health care sector
- Valid Driver’s Licence
Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities
- Ability to work under pressure
- Good knowledge and work experience in a comprehensive HIV treatment and care,
Prevention services, working in health facility and community-based programmes
- Excellent counselling and communication skills in English and local languages
- Proficiency in verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Time management skills
- Willingness and ability to travel
- Available to commence work immediately
