ZoeD is a growing South African eCommerce technology and electronics retailer supplying technology, electronics, solar equipment and related products to customers across South Africa.

As we expand our solar product division, we are looking for an experienced and suitably qualified Solar PV Installer / Solar Technician to join our business and provide professional technical support to our customers.

The Role

We are looking for a hands-on solar professional with practical experience in the installation, commissioning, troubleshooting and maintenance of solar PV systems.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting customers with solar-related technical requirements and, where required, assisting with or carrying out solar installations.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, commission and maintain residential and/or commercial solar PV systems.
• Install and configure solar panels, inverters, batteries and associated equipment.
• Assess customer requirements and assist with appropriate solar system solutions.
• Perform basic solar system sizing and equipment selection.
• Provide technical advice to customers regarding solar equipment.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot solar PV, inverter and battery-related issues.
• Assist customers and installation partners with technical queries.
• Ensure installations comply with applicable electrical and safety requirements.
• Conduct inspections, testing and commissioning of solar installations.
• Assist with documentation and technical reports where required.
• Provide technical support to ZoeD's sales and eCommerce operations.
• Stay up to date with solar technologies, products and installation practices.

Minimum Requirements

The successful candidate must have practical solar installation experience and preferably:

• A recognised Electrical qualification or trade qualification.
• Electrical Trade Test will be highly advantageous.
• Relevant Solar PV installation qualification/training.
• Proven experience installing solar PV systems.
• Experience working with solar inverters and lithium/other battery systems.
• Experience installing and commissioning solar panels.
• Good understanding of DC and AC electrical systems.
• Good understanding of solar system sizing and equipment compatibility.
• Knowledge of electrical safety and applicable installation requirements.
• Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose technical problems.

Highly Advantageous

The following will be a strong advantage:

• Experience issuing or working with Certificates of Compliance (COCs).
• Experience with residential and commercial solar installations.
• Experience with major inverter, battery and solar panel brands.
• Experience with hybrid and grid-tied solar systems.
• Experience with backup power systems.
• Previous experience working with solar distributors or renewable-energy companies.
• Valid driver's licence and own reliable transport.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who is technically competent, reliable and experienced in the field.

This is not an entry-level position. Applicants should be able to demonstrate previous experience working with actual solar installations and provide proof of their relevant qualifications and/or certifications.

The successful candidate will also be expected to assist ZoeD in providing technical support to customers purchasing solar equipment through our eCommerce platform.

Working Arrangement

The position can be structured as part-time, contract or full-time, depending on the candidate's qualifications, experience and availability.
