Sous Chef

Job Summary:

We are looking for a skilled and dependable Sous Chef to take command in our kitchen.

The Sous Chef will manage the kitchen and all kitchen operations, supervising staff, ensuring food quality, and maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety. You must be a leader, a great cook, and able to run the kitchen.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Kitchen Management & Cooking.

Prepare, cook, and present dishes to the highest standard. Ensure consistency in taste, portion size, and presentation. Manage stock, ordering, and supplier relationships. Help control food waste and keep food costs on target

2. Team Leadership

Supervise, train, and motivate kitchen staff (Commis Chefs, Prep Cooks, Deli Staff). Run the kitchen service during busy periods. Ensure the team follows all kitchen rules and procedures

3. Health, Safety & Hygiene

Maintain strict hygiene, health and safety standards. Ensure the kitchen is always clean and organized. Check that all food is stored correctly and labelled. Ensure all equipment is working safely

4. Operations

Take charge of the kitchen. Help with stock-takes and monthly inventory. Deal with customer feedback and special dietary requests. Ensure service is fast, efficient, and of high quality.

Requirements & Qualifications: Proven experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Chef de Partie (2+ years) Culinary Diploma or relevant qualification preferred. Strong knowledge of kitchen operations and cooking techniques. Excellent leadership and communication skills. Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Good knowledge of food hygiene and safety regulations. Creative, organized, and passionate about food. Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays. Must reside in the Paarl area.

Pay: R12 000,00 per month
