Requirements
- Grade 12 and qualified to serve as an operational member of
a policing service (e.g. Law Enforcement, Metro Police, Traffic
Services, SAPS)
- 5 to 8 years relevant experience including supervisory experience
in a tactical environment (SWAT)
- Successfully completed the Special Task Force Training Program
or City of Cape Town SWAT Training Program
- Must be able to qualify for recognition of prior learning (RPL) to
become a Metro Police Officer
- Code B/ Code EB driver’s licence
- Computer literacy: MS Office
- No criminal record
Key Performance Areas
- Supervise and provide operational guidance to ensure
coordinated operational plans are developed and implemented
effectively, by engaging relevant stakeholders and offering
practical advice and oversight.
- Efficient management of resources to support SWAT in their
operational activities.
- Manages and controls outcomes associated with utilization,
productivity and performance of personnel within the
Performance and Service Coordination Unit.
- Coordinate and oversee the implementation of the department’s
Integrated Risk Management (IRM) processes, ensuring full
alignment with the City’s IRM Policy, procedures and frameworks.
Facilitate structured responses to internal and external audits
and support the Head of Department in maintaining a risk-aware
culture.
- Oversee the preparation of reports and ensure timely
communication on progress, challenges and key developments
related to departmental projects and initiatives.
- Providing operational and tactical support to SWAT operations.
- Manages training and skills development and the transfer of
skills and knowledge.
