To provide strategic quantitative insights across the end-to-end credit lifecycle, leveraging advanced analytics to identify emerging risks, uncover growth opportunities, and influence business strategy. Acting as a trusted analytical partner, the role translates complex data into actionable recommendations that enhance portfolio performance, profitability, and risk management.Job Responsibilities Strategic Analytics and Portfolio Insight Leadership
- Develop a deep understanding of portfolio performance across the end-to-end credit lifecycle within Private Clients, Wealth, and Small Business Services.
- Identify emerging risks, customer behaviour trends, portfolio opportunities, and competitive threats through advanced quantitative analysis.
- Design proactive monitoring frameworks and early warning indicators to support strategic decision-making.
- Influence portfolio, credit, and business strategy through evidence-based recommendations to senior stakeholders.
Executive Decision Support and Strategic Influence
- Act as the link between data, analytics, and business strategy by translating complex findings into actionable insights.
- Present portfolio performance, strategic risks, and growth opportunities to leadership forums and executive stakeholders.
- Support the development of strategic targets, forecasts, and key performance indicators.
- Provide independent quantitative challenge to existing strategies, assumptions, and business decisions.
Advanced Analytics and Quantitative Excellence
- Develop and enhance advanced analytical models, decision-support tools, and monitoring frameworks.
- Utilise SAS, Python, SQL, and other analytical tools to solve complex portfolio and business challenges.
- Extract meaningful business insights from diverse and complex data sources.
- Drive innovation through automation, advanced analytics, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Financial and Commercial Insight
- Analyse portfolio performance within the broader commercial, financial, and competitive environment.
- Assess the impact of strategic decisions on portfolio growth, profitability, customer outcomes, and risk performance.
- Conduct scenario analysis and forecasting to support strategic planning and investment decisions.
- Provide commercially relevant recommendations that balance growth, risk, and shareholder value.
Leadership and Stakeholder Engagement
- Build trusted relationships with executives and key business stakeholders across Credit, Risk, Finance, Product, and Operations.
- Collaborate with quantitative analysts and senior analysts to deliver high-quality analytical outputs.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced analysts where required.
- Champion a data-driven decision-making culture across the business. Essential Qualifications - NQF Level
- Professional Qualifications/Honour’s Degree Preferred Qualification
- Postgraduate qualification (Honours, Master's or equivalent) in a quantitative, analytical, or finance-related discipline.
- Professional certification in Data Science, Machine Learning, Advanced Analytics, Financial Modelling, Risk Management, or a related field. Minimum Experience Level
- Minimum 6 years' experience in quantitative analytics within the banking, financial services, or insurance industry.
- Experience in credit, portfolio, risk, or customer analytics.
- Proven ability to translate complex analytical findings into strategic business insights and recommendations.
