Job description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Specimen Receiving Clerk to join our laboratory team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the accurate receipt, processing, and capturing of laboratory specimens while ensuring compliance with laboratory procedures and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive, sort, and process incoming specimens.
- Verify specimen details and ensure all documentation is complete and accurate.
- Capture patient and specimen information onto the laboratory information system.
- Identify and resolve specimen-related queries.
- Maintain accurate records and data integrity.
- Ensure adherence to laboratory quality standards and protocols.
- Assist with general administrative duties within the laboratory as required.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare professionals and laboratory staff.
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 / Matric certificate. BSc Graduate Advantageous.
- Previous experience in a specimen receiving, laboratory administration, or data capturing role.
- Laboratory experience will be advantageous.
- Strong data capturing skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays when required.
