State Accountant: Financial Accounting (Reporting), Ref No. WCMD 27/2026

Job Purpose

The Western Cape Mobility Department has an opportunity for a suitably qualified and competent individual to perform and supervise financial accounting administrative services in line with the relevant legislation, regulations, frameworks and departmental policies and procedures. The successful incumbent must be able to work under pressure, willingness to work irregular hours and meet tight deadlines.

Minimum Requirements

An appropriate 3-year qualification (National Diploma/ B-Degree or higher qualification); A minimum of 1 year relevant experience in a Financial Accounting or related working environment.

Key Performance Areas

Preparation of Interim and Annual Financial Statements; Provide financial accounting services; In Year Monitoring (IYM) and Quarterly debt reporting; Managerial/ Supervisory functions.

Knowledge and working experience in the following: legislation, regulatory frameworks, policies and best practices that have a bearing on the line functions; Information systems that aid in the management of knowledge and information pertaining to the line function; Public Finance Management Act, 1999, National Treasury Regulations and Provincial Treasury Instructions, other financial policies, prescripts, directives and collective agreements; salary administration and payment system in respect of purchase, payables and transfers; public finance, human resources and discourse management processes; policy development, and operational management, monitoring and review processes; public service procedures, processes and systems; project management; operational management practices; procurement and tendering processes.

Remuneration

R 413 001 - R 486 501 per annum (Salary level 8)

Note on remuneration in addition service benefits or obligations for qualifying employees (medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc) are funded or co-funded `in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.
