EXPERIENCE

• Decontaminate, clean, inspect, assemble, pack and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment. • Operate and monitor sterilization equipment according to prescribed procedures. • Ensure correct labelling, storage, distribution of sterile items and maintain accurate documentation and sterilization records. • Receiving and sorting of Linen and Distribution and Stock control. • Linnen control and processing clean linen and quality Control and Storage and Ensure cleanliness CCSD environment. • Comply with Occupational Health and Safety and Infection and prevention and Safety policies in CSSD. • Adhering to Documentation and Communication protocols in CSSD.

COMPETENCIES (KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS)

• Knowledge of decontamination, cleaning and packing and sterilization of surgical instruments. • Understanding of infection prevention and control principles. • Ability to cooperate sterilization equipment (e.g. Autoclaves, washer disinfectors). • Good communication and interpersonal skills. • Ability to work independently and under pressure. • Commitment to Batho Ple Principles.

EXPERIENCE

Appropriate experience in Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD) within a hospital environment.

MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION

GETC/Grade 9 (Std 7).
