Job description
Career Growth Hospitality Recruitment is looking for an experienced and highly organised Stock Control Co-ordinator to join a busy 4-star hotel in Cape Town.
The successful candidate will be responsible for receiving, storing, issuing and accurately recording food, beverage and operational stock. This role requires excellent attention to detail, strong inventory knowledge and the physical ability to handle high-volume deliveries in a fast-paced hotel environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive and inspect stock deliveries for accuracy, quality and condition
- Allocate, store and pack stock in the correct designated areas
- Issue stock to the relevant departments as required
- Capture stock transfers and supplier invoices on the inventory system
- Assist with stock variance investigations and spot checks
- Conduct and capture regular 10-day and 20-day stock counts
- Maintain temperature logs for fridges and freezers
- Check supplier vehicle temperatures and cleanliness upon delivery
- Keep bulk storage areas clean, neat and properly organised
- Complete all stock-related administration accurately and on time
- Work closely with hotel departments to support daily operations
- Assist with additional duties when operationally required
Requirements:
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role within a 4- or 5-star hotel
- Good knowledge of food, ingredients, beverages, wine and liquor
- Familiarity with packaging and cleaning supplies
- Experience using an ERP or similar inventory control system
- Strong understanding of food hygiene and food safety practices
- Excellent organisational, numerical and analytical skills
- Good financial understanding and strong attention to detail
- Physically fit and able to lift and move items weighing 40kg or more
- Able to manage stock cages and high-volume deliveries
- Professional, well-groomed and confident
- Able to remain calm and efficient under pressure
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Good spoken and written English; an additional language would be advantageous
- Willingness to work varied shifts, weekends and public holidays when required
