The Opportunity
We’re looking for an accurate, well-organised
Stock Controller
to take ownership of the receipt, storage, control, movement and issuing of inventory across our warehouse locations. This is a hands-on role with real responsibility: you’ll keep our stock records spot-on in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, minimise variances, and make sure projects and service teams always have the stock they need, when they need it.
You’ll also lead and develop our store team, line-managing the Stock Assistant and acting as the central link that keeps stock information flowing accurately between Procurement, Service, Technical, Projects, Finance and Administration.
If you take pride in tidy storerooms, watertight paperwork and inventory you can trust, you’re exactly who we want to talk to.
What You’ll Do
• Maintain accurate inventory records in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, ensuring all stock movements are correctly recorded and authorised.
• Perform daily stock checks and cycle counts, carry out monthly stock takes, and investigate and resolve stock variances.
• Receive stock from suppliers, verifying quantities against purchase orders and delivery notes, inspecting for damage, and booking it into the correct warehouse and bin locations.
• Pick, issue and prepare stock for projects, service calls and internal requirements, verifying it matches requirements and is accurately processed in the system.
• Maintain a clean, organised and secure warehouse, ensuring stock is correctly stored and labelled and that health and safety standards are met.
• Track stock allocated to projects, monitor and verify project returns, and escalate stock remaining on completed projects.
• Record and track all supplier loan and demo stock, monitoring return dates and ensuring timely returns to suppliers.
• Provide direct line management to the Stock Assistant, setting clear expectations and leading recruitment, onboarding, development and competence assessment for the store team.
• Report HR-related performance and disciplinary matters timeously to the CFO and keep the Head of People informed of any issues.
• Act as a key inter-departmental link across AVT, ensuring stock information, requirements and updates flow accurately between Procurement, Service, Technical, Projects, Finance and Administration.
• Maintain accurate receiving, issuing, transfer and return documentation, ensuring serial number tracking aligns to picking slips and correct paperwork is completed.
What You’ll Bring (Must-Haves)
• Matric / National Senior Certificate (Grade 12).
• Relevant experience in stock, inventory or warehouse control.
• Working knowledge of stock management / inventory systems and procedures.
• Strong attention to detail with proven accuracy in record-keeping.
• Computer literate (MS Office and relevant stock / financial systems).
Nice to Have (Will Set You Apart)
• Experience using Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or a similar ERP / inventory system.
• Previous experience supervising or line-managing a store or warehouse team.
• Exposure to project-based stock control, loan / demo stock or serial-number tracking.
• Experience working in an AV, technical, electronics or systems-integration environment.
• A relevant qualification or certificate in stock control, warehousing, logistics or supply chain.
