Job description

Stock Controller – Brief Job Description

Main Purpose:

To maintain accurate stock levels and ensure that all stock received, moved, sold, returned or damaged is correctly recorded and controlled. The Stock Controller is responsible for identifying stock discrepancies, preventing stock losses and ensuring the store always has reliable stock information.

Daily Responsibilities

* Count stock regularly according to the store’s stock-count schedule.

* Compare physical stock to system stock and investigate any differences.

* Identify and report shortages, excess stock, damaged stock and incorrect items.

* Check that all stock received from suppliers is correct and properly captured.

* Monitor stock movements between receiving, yard, shop floor, warehouse and dispatch.

* Ensure customer returns and inter-store transfers are correctly recorded.

* Investigate negative stock quantities and correct discrepancies with management approval.

* Check that products have the correct SKU, description and pricing.

* Monitor slow-moving, excess and obsolete stock and report it to management.

* Assist with monthly/periodic stock takes and wall-to-wall stock takes.

* Maintain accurate stock-control paperwork and filing.

* Report any suspected stock theft, unusual variances or irregular stock movements immediately.

* Ensure stock is properly stored, labelled and safely merchandised.

* Work closely with Receiving, Yard, Dispatch, Sales and Management to keep stock accurate.

Pay: R7 000,00 - R10 000,00 per month
