Stock Controller — Sorrento Events

Sorrento Events is a floral, décor, and event management company specialising in weddings, corporate events, and celebrations. We are looking for a Stock Controller to take full ownership of our inventory operations — from picking list creation through to post-event reporting.

This is a hands-on, detail-driven role at the centre of our event operations. Our success depends on every item being tracked, verified, and accounted for — before, during, and after every event.

Core Responsibilities Pre-Event

• Create picking lists using stock management software
• Submit picking lists for internal approval to the relevant communication platforms
• Distribute picking lists to the pulling team and oversee the stock pulling process
• Verify pulled stock against the picking list — stock must be pulled and checked ahead of each event
• Distribute event strike documentation to team leads before vehicle departure
• Assist with loading vehicles and dispatching for event setups and strikes

Post-Event

• Compile strike reports and update stock management system
• Submit strike reports to the relevant communication platforms
• Verify returned stock is in event ready condition before placing it back in it's allocated storage area
• Submit a workshop job card request for stock items needing repair

Ongoing

• Maintain accurate, real-time stock records using stock management software
• Plan and execute stock takes with the warehouse team
• Ensure all stock is returned to its allocated location after events
• Maintain the warehouse, office spaces, vehicles, and company assets
• Report daily stock movement and event feedback to management through
• Flag stock losses, damage trends, and discrepancies to the Operations Manager
• Assist with event setups and strikes after hours, including midnight and early morning shifts when required
• Assist with deliveries when operationally required

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years' experience in stock control, warehouse, or inventory management — events, rental, or hospitality industry preferred
• Proficiency in stock or inventory management software
• Competent in Microsoft Office and productivity platforms
• Strong admin skills and the ability to multi-task across concurrent events
• Hard working, motivated, punctual, and energetic
• A team player who communicates clearly and directly
• Exceptional attention to detail — every item in, every item out, every item accounted for
• Valid driver's licence with a clean driving record
• Own vehicle for daily transportation
• Smartphone with the ability to use productivity and communication apps
• Willing to work flexible hours including after-hours, weekends, and early mornings

Pay: From R12 000,00 per month
