Job description
Job Summary
The Stock Controller is responsible for managing inventory levels, ensuring accurate stock records, monitoring stock movements, and maintaining optimal inventory levels to support business operations. The role involves receiving, storing, issuing, and tracking stock while ensuring compliance with company policies and inventory control procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, inspect, and record incoming stock deliveries.
- Maintain accurate inventory records using manual or computerized inventory systems.
- Monitor stock levels and identify shortages or overstock situations.
- Conduct regular stock counts and reconcile discrepancies.
- Ensure stock is stored safely, securely, and in an organized manner.
- Issue stock according to company procedures and maintain accurate documentation.
- Prepare purchase requisitions or reorder requests when stock reaches minimum levels.
- Investigate and report inventory variances, damages, or losses.
- Coordinate with suppliers, warehouse staff, and other departments regarding stock requirements.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and company policies.
- Generate inventory reports and provide recommendations to improve stock control processes.
- Assist during internal and external stock audits.
Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent qualification.
- Certificate or diploma in Supply Chain, Logistics, Inventory Management, or a related field is an advantage.
- Previous experience in stock control, inventory management, or warehouse operations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and inventory management systems.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
