Job description
The purpose of the position is to plan, organise, and coordinate the procurement, receipt, storage, replenishment, and invoicing of all hospital stock in compliance with medicine regulations, while providing efficient administrative support to the Hospital Manager and nursing staff and ensuring effective ward administration processes.
CRITICAL OUTPUTS
- Ensure the procurement, receipt, verification, labelling, storage, and replenishment of all ethical, surgical, and hospital stock.
- Monitor stock levels and maintain accurate inventory records in accordance with hospital requirements and medicine regulations.
- Coordinate stock ordering, receipt, barcode scanning, invoicing, and monthly supplier reconciliations.
- Conduct and oversee stock takes and identify trends that may lead to stock losses or inefficiencies.
- Maintain accurate patient admission and discharge records on the relevant hospital systems.
- Prepare admission files, billing sheets, patient stickers, bed lists, and diet lists.
- Coordinate patient discharges, ambulance bookings, and communication with patient families when required.
- Arrange diagnostic investigations and assist with the booking and administration of agency staff.
- Support management and nursing staff by ensuring stock availability and efficient administrative processes.
- Maintain productive relationships with suppliers, healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, inventory control procedures, and quality standards.
- Assist with ad hoc duties and be available for emergency stock collections and operational requirements.
REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of Grade 12 / NQF Level 4.
- A relevant tertiary qualification will be advantageous.
- Minimum of 3–4 years' experience in a Stock Controller role.
- Previous experience in the healthcare or medical industry will be highly advantageous.
- Previous ward administration experience will be advantageous.
- Full computer literacy, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Valid driver's licence and own transport.
- Ability to work in a pressurised, deadline-driven environment.
- Willingness to work overtime and be on call for emergencies when required.
- Strong attention to detail, customer service orientation, and ability to work effectively within a team.
Pay: R13 500,00 - R21 700,00 per month
