Purpose:

To manage the day-to-day operations of the store by following opening and closing store protocol. To drive customer satisfaction and retention by delivering fast, efficient and friendly levels of service. To manage staff and ensure that they are kept motivated so they can always deliver their best. To Drive sales objectives in both buyshop and retail. To ensure all security measures are met so that the store is always a hard target for robberies.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure store sales objectives are met. Maximise incomes streams for the store (Retail sales and SSB income). Striving to always improve Stores Performance
  • Ensure effective implementation of merchandising standards
  • Attraction and retention of customer base
  • Ensure Customer Expectations are exceeded
  • Ensure immediate acknowledgement and timeous finalisation of product and retail / buy shop related complaints
  • Reinforce a culture of service minded staff to ensure Customer satisfaction. Continuously encourage and motivate staff to live our culture of being the customer’s first-choice retailer by delivering exceptional service and ensuring professionalism is maintained at all times.
  • Facilitate the training and development of employees to ensure correct competency
  • Ensure consistent, effective staff performance management. Manage and enhance employee relations and satisfaction. Ensure implementation and adherence to all relevant Company Policies, Procedures, System Requirements, Standing instructions. Take all appropriate and timely actions when any staff wrongdoing is identified, in accordance with company policies and disciplinary procedures
  • Issue of daily cashier and buyer floats, to ensure that a safe check is done daily. To cash up all till points at store closing. Manage all store Cash-ups. Record all cash up shortages and overs on cash up spreadsheet. Always strive to resolve any cash up queries with buyers and cashiers timeously.
  • To drive sales of stock age items. To mark down stock age items (New and Second Hand). Ensure that they are merchandised in the sale section with the relevant “was and now” flash cards. To replenish sale section with more marked down sale items as they sell out.
  • Ensure all staff commission are recorded accurately for payroll submission
  • To manage all mandatory stock takes to ensure store compliance. To control shrinkage and stock losses and damages. The final variance must be correctly filed and available for review at any time
  • To conduct a minimum of three floor walks per week to identify and address any operational or merchandising concerns, ensuring adherence to high store standards.
  • To conduct high-value stock counts three times per week to monitor inventory accuracy and prevent stock losses. The final variance must be correctly filed and available for review at any time.
  • Constantly be aware of all repairs by managing the repair process from start to finish. Ensure that repairs are attended to timeously. Ensure that repair sheets are filed for easy access and repairs are closed off the system once complete. Strive to ensure that repair and auction stock are kept to an absolute minimum.
  • Authorise any reasonable discounts, price changes, and customer returns on the retail floor.
  • Ensure that all head office correspondence is read and filed. Communicate any relevant information to staff.
  • Reinforce a culture of service minded staff to ensure Customer satisfaction
  • Test the alarm system on a weekly basis, as per current standards. Report any faulty security equipment immediately to your General Manager for assistance.
  • To manage the process of releasing all second-hand stock. Check all second-hand stock that is released from quarantine. RRP (recommended retail price) is market related. POPI (Protection of Personal Information Act) – All released items with data storage capabilities must have customer data removed. To oversee the overall stock quality. Prevent any second-hand stock from being unpacked, displayed, shown to customers, or sold before the quarantine period has passed.
  • Oversee the buyers. The manager must ensure that all goods purchased are rigorously tested and that repairs are minimised. All device password and customer accounts should be signed out for all high value items.
  • Make regular cash drops from tills to the safe. Ensure safes are kept closed and locked. Daily safe checks must be completed accurately and balance.
  • Ensure that morning meetings are attended at least three times per week and that all staff participate in the training sessions. Ensure all questions are addressed to facilitate effective learning. The attendance register must be signed by all participants and accurately filed for easy access.
  • Maintain store stock levels of the retail floor. Ensure that staff accurately replenish stock at regular intervals. The manager must check all incoming new stock against the delivery invoice for accuracy. To immediately report any stock shortages or defective stock for store credit.

Key Requirements

  • Matric Certificate (tertiary qualification in business/retail management would be advantageous)
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a management position (retail sector would be advantageous)
