Job description
ZAN Tiles & Décor is seeking an experienced, commercially driven Showroom / Retail Manager to take full responsibility for the day-to-day management and growth of The ZAN Gallery.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering an exceptional customer experience, driving sales, managing staff and stock, maintaining premium showroom standards, and developing strong relationships with homeowners, developers, architects, interior designers and contractors.
This is a hands-on management position requiring strong leadership, excellent sales ability and a genuine interest in premium interior finishes, tiles, sanitaryware and related products.
Key Responsibilities
- Take overall responsibility for the daily operation and performance of the showroom.
- Drive sales and ensure monthly and annual sales targets are achieved.
- Lead, motivate and manage the showroom sales team.
- Personally engage with customers and assist with larger or higher-value sales.
- Prepare and oversee professional quotations, follow-ups and order conversions.
- Ensure all enquiries, quotations and leads are followed up promptly.
- Develop relationships with architects, interior designers, property developers, contractors and other industry professionals.
- Identify new business opportunities and actively grow ZAN’s customer base.
- Maintain an exceptional standard of customer service throughout the sales process.
- Ensure the showroom is always professionally presented, clean, organised and aligned with ZAN’s premium brand image.
- Manage product displays and ensure samples and merchandising remain current and attractive.
- Oversee stock levels, stock movements, receiving, dispatching and stock control.
- Monitor fast-moving and slow-moving products and assist with purchasing and replenishment decisions.
- Minimise stock losses, damages and discrepancies.
- Manage customer orders from quotation through to payment, ordering, delivery and after-sales service.
- Coordinate effectively with suppliers, transporters and customers regarding deliveries and orders.
- Handle customer complaints professionally and ensure issues are resolved promptly.
- Monitor sales margins and assist management in maintaining appropriate pricing and profitability.
- Prepare regular sales, stock and performance reports for management.
- Ensure staff are properly trained on products, sales techniques and customer service standards.
- Manage staff schedules, attendance, performance and daily responsibilities.
- Ensure all company procedures and administrative requirements are followed accurately.
- Assist with showroom promotions, launches, marketing initiatives and industry events.
- Support the continued growth and development of the ZAN brand within the Garden Route and broader South African market.
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience in retail, showroom management or a similar customer-facing environment.
- Strong proven experience in sales is essential.
- Previous management or supervisory experience.
- Experience within tiles, sanitaryware, flooring, kitchens, interiors, furniture, building materials or luxury retail will be highly advantageous.
- Strong leadership and people-management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong customer-service orientation.
- Good commercial awareness and understanding of margins, targets and profitability.
- Strong administrative and organisational ability.
- Comfortable working with quotations, sales systems, stock systems and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of showroom performance.
- Valid driver’s licence would be advantageous.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be confident, professional, well presented and highly motivated. They should have the ability to turn enquiries into sales while building long-term customer relationships.
They must be comfortable working with both retail customers and professionals such as architects, designers and developers, and should understand the importance of delivering a premium showroom experience.
The successful candidate should demonstrate initiative, accountability and the ability to operate the showroom as though it were their own business.
