Job description

JOB PURPOSE

The Store Manager will have full accountability for the overall performance of the store, including sales, customer experience, team performance, stock management, visual merchandising and operational standards.

This is a hands-on leadership position suited to a manager who thrives in a high-performance retail environment and understands that success in premium beauty retail comes from combining strong sales execution, exceptional customer service, product knowledge and effective people leadership.

The successful candidate will be expected to lead from the front, spend significant time on the sales floor, engage directly with customers, coach and motivate the team, and take ownership of achieving and exceeding store targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take full accountability for achieving and exceeding monthly and annual store sales targets.
  • Drive daily sales performance and ensure the team remains focused on achieving targets.
  • Monitor and analyse key sales KPIs and implement strategies to improve performance.
  • Coach Sales Consultants on selling, upselling, cross-selling and closing techniques.
  • Maximise every customer interaction and identify opportunities to increase sales.
  • Drive repeat business, customer retention and loyalty.
  • Identify underperforming areas and implement clear corrective action plans.
  • Monitor individual Sales Consultant performance and hold employees accountable for results.
  • Provide regular sales performance reports and insights to management.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to grow revenue and improve store profitability.

Customer Experience

  • Ensure every customer receives an exceptional, personalised and premium San Hair experience.
  • Build strong relationships with regular, high-value and VIP customers.
  • Ensure customers receive professional and knowledgeable product recommendations.
  • Personally assist with escalated customer queries and complaints.
  • Resolve customer concerns quickly, professionally and in line with company policies.
  • Ensure the team consistently demonstrates excellent communication, product knowledge and professionalism.
  • Create a welcoming, sophisticated and customer-focused store environment.
  • Drive a culture where customer experience and sales excellence go hand in hand.

Team Leadership & Performance Management

  • Lead, motivate and develop a high-performing sales team.
  • Set clear individual and team performance expectations.
  • Monitor individual performance against sales targets and KPIs.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one coaching and performance discussions.
  • Identify training and development needs and implement appropriate coaching.
  • Provide ongoing sales coaching and product knowledge training.
  • Motivate employees to consistently achieve and exceed targets.
  • Manage attendance, punctuality, productivity and employee discipline.
  • Address poor performance promptly and implement appropriate performance improvement measures.
  • Recognise and reward strong performance.
  • Build a culture of accountability, ownership, professionalism and high performance.
  • Lead by example and demonstrate the required sales and customer-service standards at all times.

Merchandising & Brand Standards

  • Maintain a premium, attractive and commercially effective store environment.
  • Ensure products are correctly displayed, priced, replenished and presented.
  • Maintain excellent standards of cleanliness, organisation and presentation.
  • Ensure the store consistently reflects the San Hair brand image and standards.
  • Implement promotional campaigns and ensure promotional material is correctly displayed.
  • Ensure new products and key products receive appropriate visibility.
  • Monitor merchandising standards throughout the trading day.

Stock & Operational Management

  • Maintain accurate stock levels and minimise stock losses.
  • Monitor stock receiving, transfers, replenishment and stock movement.
  • Ensure regular stock counts and accurate inventory records.
  • Investigate and report stock discrepancies.
  • Maintain a clean, secure and organised stockroom.
  • Ensure all stock is appropriately handled and stored.
  • Follow all company operational policies and procedures.
  • Identify potential stock losses, operational risks and control weaknesses.
  • Ensure store opening, closing and cash-handling procedures are followed correctly.
  • Maintain accurate administrative and operational records.

PEOPLE MANAGEMENT & ADMINISTRATION

  • Manage staff schedules and ensure adequate store coverage.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Monitor attendance, leave, punctuality and overall employee conduct.
  • Conduct staff meetings and daily/weekly sales briefings.
  • Communicate company objectives, promotions and operational requirements effectively.
  • Maintain accurate employee and store records.
  • Work closely with HR and management on employee-related matters.
  • Ensure all employees understand their responsibilities and performance expectations.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSEssential

  • 3–5+ years' retail management or supervisory experience.
  • Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets.
  • Previous experience managing and developing a sales team.
  • Strong customer-service experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach employees and improve sales performance.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent sales and negotiation ability.
  • Strong commercial awareness.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Good administrative and organisational skills.
  • Ability to analyse sales results and identify performance opportunities.
  • Ability to work retail hours, including weekends and public holidays.
  • Ability to work effectively in a high-volume shopping-centre environment.
