Full job description

To ensure the efficient receipt, storage, control, and issuing of all stock items. The Storeman is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records, ensuring stock availability, and supporting operational requirements while adhering to health and safety standards.

Summary of responsibilities:

Inventory and Stock Control

• Receive, inspect, and verify incoming deliveries against purchase orders and delivery notes.
• Store stock in designated areas according to company procedures and safety requirements.
• Maintain accurate stock records and update inventory systems.
• Conduct regular cycle counts and assist with monthly stock takes.
• Monitor stock levels and report shortages, damages, or discrepancies.
• Ensure stock is rotated according to FIFO (First-In, First-Out) principle.

Issuing of Stock

• Pick, pack, and issue stock as required.
• Oversee and Pack stock for branch transfer
• Ensure all stock issued is correctly picked and invoiced.
• Prepare orders for delivery and collection and arrange courier transport.
• Maintain proper documentation for all stock movements.

Warehouse and Housekeeping

• Keep the storeroom clean, organized, and secure at all times.
• Maintain proper labeling of stock and storage locations.
• Ensure stock equipment and tools are stored and packed away safely and are readily available.
• Maintain, Operate with care and ensure there is enough fuel and oil on hand at all times for the Forklift.

Health and Safety

• Adhere to company health and safety policies and procedures.
• Wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Report unsafe conditions, damaged stock, or incidents immediately.

Administration

• Maintain accurate filing of delivery notes, issue slips, and stock records.
• Prepare stock reports when required.
• Assist with investigating stock variances and discrepancies.
• Liaise with suppliers, procurement, and operations personnel regarding stock requirements.
• Assist with answering calls.
• Receive and manage credits
• Receive and manage repairs
• Liaise with the factory for bandsaw stock required

General

• You need to be honest and hardworking as you will be dealing with high value stock items.
• Communication is vital!
• Help out wherever necessary

• Computer literacy (Microsoft Office and Sage Pastel).
• Teamwork and customer service orientation.
• Grade 12 (Matric).
• A qualification in Stores and Warehouse Management will be advantageous.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a stores, warehouse, or inventory control environment.
• Experience working with stock management systems.
