Storeman

Requirements

• Grade 12
• 3–4 years’ experience as a Storeman, preferably within a workshop, manufacturing, engineering or trailer repair environment
• Sound knowledge of stock control and inventory management
• Experience with receiving, issuing, picking and packing stock
• Good understanding of stock levels, bin locations and stock allocation
• Computer literacy and ability to work with stock/inventory systems
• Good communication and organisational skills
• Ability to work accurately and independently
• Customer service orientated
• Sober habits

Key Outputs / Responsibilities

• Receive, inspect and correctly store incoming stock and materials
• Pick and issue stock required for workshop repairs and jobs
• Ensure stock is issued to the correct job, department or employee
• Ensure all stock is correctly labelled, barcoded and allocated to the correct bin/location
• Maintain accurate stock records and ensure all stock movements are captured correctly
• Monitor minimum and maximum stock levels and report items requiring replenishment
• Conduct regular stock counts and assist with stock takes
• Investigate and report stock discrepancies, shortages or damaged stock
• Keep the storeroom clean, organised and well maintained
• Ensure tools, parts, consumables and other workshop materials are stored safely and correctly
• Assist with identifying slow-moving, obsolete or excess stock
• Ensure stock is available when required to prevent delays to workshop operations
• Liaise with workshop staff and management regarding stock requirements
• Adhere to company policies, procedures and health and safety requirements at all times
• Maintain a high level of accuracy and accountability for stock under your control
