Faculty Department Cape Peninsula University of Technology -> Finance -> Procurement Campus/ Location District Six Campus - Cape Town, WC ZA (Primary)
Job Type Permanent Occupational Function Support / Admin Number of Positions 1 Annual Salary Package (incl. Medical Aid rate based on principal member only) To be confirmed Advert Closing Date 9/8/2026 Job Purpose To assist in the fulfilling of the Procurement function at CPUT in line with the Procurement policy and relevant supply chain
management, legislation and regulations. To maintain effective stores structure and ensure value for money is achieved on all
purchased activities (goods or services) by maximizing the buying power.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- A Senior Certificate / Matric/ Grade 12.
- International qualifications must be accompanied by SAQA verification.
- Four (4) years of relevant experience in the stores environment, including the procurement knowledge
- 1 year supervisory skills with the ability to do and manage stock taking.
- Good communication skills (written and verbal).
- Good numeracy skills.
- Computer literacy Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities
- Procurement function implementation in accordance with the procurement policy and relevant legislation
- Needed Analysis
- Handling of queries
- Placing of orders and ensuring economies of scale.
- Marketing of procurement function
- Price negotiation
- Supplier relationship building
- Supplier performance management
- Liaising with suppliers and keeping up to date with market procurement trends
- Liaising with and assisting end users throughout the procurement function
- Report writing
- General administration
- Ad hoc duties assigned by the line manager Competencies
- Knowledge of store practices.
- Relevant Legislation and Code of Good Practice
