Job description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Stores Controller to manage engineering spares, consumables, and inventory processes, ensuring the availability of critical stock to support maintenance and production activities while maintaining accurate records and compliance with company standards. This position is graded at a PE12 level and reports to the Stores Supervisor.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the receipt, storage, issuing, and control of engineering spares and consumables.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and update systems to ensure stock accuracy.
- Monitor stock levels, reorder points, and supplier lead times to prevent shortages and minimize downtime.
- Conduct cycle counts, investigate stock variances, and generate inventory reports.
- Process delivery documentation, stock transfers, requisitions, and work orders accurately.
- Coordinate with Procurement and Finance to resolve stock and supplier queries.
- Manage the tools register and control the issuing and return of equipment.
- Assist with loading and offloading activities and ensure materials are stored correctly.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste, optimize costs, and improve service delivery.
- Ensure compliance with quality, food safety, housekeeping, and health and safety standards.
Requirements:
- Matric
- Diploma in Stoes/Logistics is advantageous
- Experience in stock control, stores management, or warehouse operations within a manufacturing environment.
- Computer literacy and experience with ERP systems (JDE experience will be advantageous).
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
