Structural Engineer / Technologist

Engineering firm in Cape Town is seeking an experienced and dynamic Electrical Engineer / Technologist to join their growing technical team in Cape Town.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the structural and civil engineering design, planning, and execution for commercial, residential, and municipal infrastructure projects
• Perform detailed structural calculations, technical analysis, and drawing approvals in compliance with SANS and international standards
• Act as the project lead on site, managing site inspections, quality control, contractor compliance, and client meetings
• Prepare comprehensive technical reports, tender documentation, bills of quantities, and project schedules
• Mentor and supervise junior engineers, technologists, and draftspersons within the team
• Manage client relationships, stakeholder communication, and project financial control

· Experience in the planning, design and contract administration of building and engineering projects from inception to completion. A strong background in the design of bulk water reservoirs, water treatment works, stormwater management infrastructure, water retaining structures, reinforced concrete framed structures and steel framed structures will be advantageous

· Experience with managing design teams, to complete tasks and produce high-quality deliverables such as design calculations, drawings, schedules, and reports on time and within budget. Strong understanding of design engineering codes and technical standards

Minimum Requirements:

• Qualification: BSc / BEng or BTech in Civil Engineering (Structural Engineering)
• Professional Registration: Pr.Eng or Pr.Tech with ECSA (essential)
• Experience: Minimum 8–10+ years of post-qualification experience in structural and civil engineering design and project management
• Software Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of industry-standard design tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Prokon, Revit, Civil 3D, or similar)
• Skills: Excellent contract administration knowledge (GCC, JBCC, FIDIC), strong leadership abilities, and outstanding written/verbal communication skills.
• Valid South African driver’s license and own reliable transport
• Must have a strong client focus
• Must take ownership of projects
• Must be an effective communicator (personal, phone, writing, email; etc)

Pay: R80 000,00 - R130 000,00 per year
