Job Context
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Supervisor: Imports & Exports to coordinate and manage all import and export activities, ensuring the efficient, compliant, and cost-effective movement of goods. The successful candidate will oversee end-to-end import and export processes, manage freight movements, maintain regulatory compliance, and serve as the key liaison between internal stakeholders, suppliers, agents, freight forwarders, and service providers.
The role requires strong operational expertise in international trade, customs procedures, freight forwarding, and transport logistics, with a focus on accuracy, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
Key Performance Areas (KPA)
- Coordinate the full import process from receipt of shipping documents through to final delivery.
- Manage end-to-end sea freight and road freight shipments, ensuring timely and cost-effective execution.
- Handle import documentation, shipment tracking, and communication with local and international suppliers, agents, and service providers.
- Ensure compliance with import and export regulations, customs requirements, and internal company procedures.
- Arrange and obtain all necessary permits, licenses, and regulatory approvals where required.
- Coordinate and control export shipments from initiation to final delivery.
- Prepare, verify, and maintain accurate import and export documentation in accordance with regulatory and company requirements.
- Monitor shipment progress and proactively resolve operational challenges and delays.
- Verify and process freight-related invoices and supporting documentation.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to provide shipment updates and address issues promptly.
- Ensure all documentation, records, and files are accurately maintained and easily accessible for audit and compliance purposes.
- Promote continuous improvement in logistics processes to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required
- Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, or a related field.
- Relevant professional certification in logistics, freight forwarding, customs compliance, or supply chain management will be advantageous.
Skills and Experience Required
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in import/export logistics, shipping, freight forwarding, customs clearance, or trade compliance.
- Experience managing international freight movements, including sea freight and road freight operations.
- Experience within FMCG, perishables, manufacturing, or regulated goods environments will be advantageous.
- Proven experience coordinating multiple shipments and managing complex logistics activities.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of import and export regulations, customs procedures, and trade compliance requirements.
- Sound understanding of local and international trade documentation and shipping processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Experience using ERP systems such as Business Central or similar platforms.
- Knowledge of shipment tracking systems and logistics management tools.
