Job description
Role Summary
iqbusiness is seeking senior-level Systems Analysts for contract opportunities within the financial services sector, with a strong focus on payments-related projects. This highly technical role is ideal for analysts who can translate complex business requirements into detailed functional and technical specifications. You will work across banking and payments transformation initiatives, including cross-border payments, real-time payments, card-based transactions, SWIFT, RTGS, and ISO20022, supporting both “Run the Bank” and “Change the Bank” projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse, design, and document solutions for complex systems enhancements and integrations across multiple platforms and teams
- Lead functional and system design sessions to produce detailed specifications
- Work closely with developers, architects, QA, and business stakeholders to ensure alignment on requirements and solutions
- Design and update integration messages (web services, APIs, XML schemas, flat files) and assist with database analysis using SQL
- Model system designs using UML 2.5 (use case, activity, sequence, component, and interface diagrams)
- Translate business needs into actionable system-level requirements and co-create specifications when needed
- Mentor and guide other analysts, fostering a high-performance, knowledge-sharing culture
- Participate in Agile delivery (Scrum, SAFe, or similar) and support production releases
Requirements
- 6+ years’ experience as a Systems Analyst, ideally within financial services
- Hands-on experience in Payments or Forex domain projects, including cross-border, real-time, and card-based transactions
- Strong understanding of payment infrastructures and rails, including SWIFT, ISO20022 messaging standards (PAIN, PACS, CAMT), legacy SWIFT MT series, SAMOS, and RTGS
- Familiarity with SARB/Finsurv systems, regulatory reporting, Balance of Payments, exchange controls, and Payments Modernisation initiatives
- Experience with integration design, API specifications, SQL, and UML system modelling
- Confident in end-to-end project analysis, from requirements gathering to production handover
- Strong stakeholder management across business, technology, QA, and architecture teams
- Familiarity with tools and frameworks such as JIRA, Confluence, ARIS, and UML modelling tools
Education
- Matric (required)
- Relevant tertiary qualification (Degree or Diploma) and/or CBAP certification
