Job description
Siyakhulisa Trading Enterprise (Pty) Ltd is a 100% Black-Owned company with Level 1 BBBEE status, operating across the logistics, mining, road maintenance and material handling sectors.
What began as a coal transportation operation serving mines and Eskom power stations across Mpumalanga has grown into a diversified logistics operation transporting coal, chrome, white products, HFO, Molten Sulphur, dry bulk and agricultural produce across Southern Africa.

VACANCY: TANKER FLEET CONTROLLER – DURBAN, KWAZULU-NATAL
Location: Durban, KwaZulu-Natal
Siyakhulisa Trading Enterprise is seeking to appoint a highly competent, results-driven and safety-focused Tanker Fleet Controller to join our Transport & Logistics team in Durban.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in coordinating and controlling tanker fleet operations, ensuring the safe and efficient movement of vehicles and products while maintaining high standards of driver performance, regulatory compliance, customer service and operational efficiency.
We are looking for an individual with strong fleet-control and transport coordination experience, excellent administrative and communication skills, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced logistics environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate sound judgement, attention to detail and a strong commitment to road safety, operational discipline and service excellence.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Driver Supervision
- Supervise tanker truck drivers and monitor daily performance, attendance and compliance.
- Allocate drivers and tanker vehicles to trips and coordinate daily dispatch operations.
- Monitor driver conduct, working hours, rest periods and compliance with company policies.
- Conduct driver briefings and communicate operational and safety instructions.
- Address driver performance concerns and escalate matters to management and HR where necessary.
Fleet Control & Monitoring
- Monitor tanker movements, loading, unloading and deliveries using fleet-tracking systems.
- Monitor speeding, route deviations, unauthorised stops, excessive idling and other fleet violations.
- Coordinate the allocation and dispatch of vehicles according to operational requirements.
- Follow up on delayed, missing, stationary or off-route vehicles.
Tanker Safety & Compliance
- Ensure tanker vehicles comply with company, customer, road-traffic and applicable safety requirements.
- Ensure drivers conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Monitor compliance with dangerous-goods requirements where applicable.
- Verify that drivers maintain valid licences, permits, certificates and required documentation.
- Immediately report unsafe driving, vehicle defects, spills, accidents and other safety concerns.
Trip & Route Management
- Plan and monitor approved routes and delivery schedules.
- Track trip progress and communicate delays or operational challenges.
- Coordinate with customers, loading facilities, depots and receiving sites.
Fuel & Vehicle Monitoring
- Monitor fuel consumption and investigate abnormal fuel usage.
- Monitor fuel-card transactions and report irregularities.
- Monitor vehicle mileage, fuel levels and fleet utilisation.
- Report mechanical defects and coordinate vehicle maintenance requirements.
Incident Management
- Record and report accidents, breakdowns, traffic violations and operational incidents.
- Obtain relevant information, photographs, GPS records and driver statements where required.
- Escalate serious incidents to Management, HR, SHEQ and other relevant stakeholders.
- Assist with investigations and implementation of corrective actions.
Administration & Reporting
- Maintain accurate driver, vehicle and trip records.
- Prepare daily, weekly and monthly fleet performance reports.
- Report on speeding, route deviations, accidents, fuel consumption, vehicle downtime and driver performance.
- Ensure trip sheets, inspection forms, delivery documentation and other operational records are completed accurately.

IDEAL CANDIDATE
The successful candidate should have:
- Degree or Diploman in Transport and logisticsProven experience in fleet control, transport operations, logistics or a related environment.
- Experience supervising or coordinating truck drivers.
- Experience working with GPS/fleet-tracking systems.
- Strong administrative, analytical and reporting skills.
- Excellent communication and coordination abilities.
- Strong knowledge of transport safety and operational compliance.
- The ability to work under pressure and manage multiple operational priorities.
- Experience in tanker, dangerous-goods or bulk liquid transportation will be highly advantageous.
