Introduction

Picup, a last-mile delivery and technology-focused company, powered by a scalable crowd-sourced driver network, seeks a highly-organised Infield Supervisor with excellent communication skills to be responsible for driver performance, driver branding, driver supply and client satisfaction relating to our delivery as a service. Picup is looking for an experienced Team Lead: Database Engineers to drive the performance, reliability, and scalability of our database environments while mentoring a team of skilled engineers.

Job description

Lead and mentor a team of Database Engineers.
Oversee database administration, maintenance, upgrades, backups, and security.
Design and implement scalable database solutions.
Optimise database performance through query tuning and troubleshooting.
Manage replication, clustering, high availability, and disaster recovery.
Collaborate with developers and infrastructure teams to deliver reliable, high-performing systems.
Drive best practices, automation, and continuous improvement across the database environment.

Minimum requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
5 years' experience in Database Administration or Database Engineering.
Strong experience with PostgreSQL, MS SQL, or similar relational databases.
Expertise in query optimisation, performance tuning, and SQL scripting.
Experience with replication, clustering, backups, and disaster recovery.
Knowledge of Linux environments and scripting (Bash/Python advantageous).
Previous experience leading technical teams in an Agile environment.
