Team Leader

Job Advert Summary

The Team Leader is responsible for leading and managing employees during a production shift to achieve planned output, quality, safety, and operational targets. The role involves controlling production processes, managing attendance and team performance, and ensuring the effective utilisation of resources. The Team Leader is also responsible for preventing losses, maintaining high housekeeping standards, and ensuring a safe working environment. The position requires strong leadership, problem-solving, planning, communication, and administrative skills.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate or equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification.
• A minimum of 1–2 years' relevant experience in an FMCG manufacturing or production environment.
• Previous experience in a team leader, supervisory, or similar production leadership role will be advantageous.
• Basic computer literacy and administrative capability.
• Fluency in Business English.
• Willingness and ability to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
• Ability to work in challenging or extreme environmental conditions associated with a production environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Manage and Lead Subordinates

• Monitor and manage employee time and attendance to ensure adequate staffing and achievement of production objectives.
• Allocate employees effectively according to operational requirements and production priorities.
• Communicate production objectives, expectations, and relevant information clearly to the team.
• Motivate and engage team members to achieve production and performance targets.
• Address employee performance and disciplinary matters in accordance with Clover policies and procedures.
• Foster teamwork, accountability, and a positive working environment.
• Provide guidance, support, and coaching to team members where required.

2. Ensure Effective Production Management

• Monitor and control the production process to ensure planned production targets are achieved.
• Ensure that production activities are carried out in accordance with approved procedures, quality standards, and operational requirements.
• Monitor production performance and identify deviations that may impact output, quality, or efficiency.
• Take appropriate corrective action and escalate issues when required.
• Minimise product losses, waste, shrinkage, and other operational losses during processing, packing, and storage.
• Ensure the effective utilisation of available resources to support production objectives.

3. Housekeeping, Safety and Compliance

• Ensure that production areas are maintained in a clean, neat, and orderly condition at all times.
• Ensure compliance with housekeeping and workplace hygiene standards.
• Promote and maintain a safe working environment within the production area.
• Identify and report unsafe conditions, hazards, incidents, and deviations promptly.
• Ensure that employees follow applicable safety, operational, and company procedures.

4. Administration and Reporting

• Maintain accurate records relating to attendance, production, performance, and other operational requirements.
• Ensure that required production and shift information is accurately captured and communicated.
• Provide relevant feedback and reports to management regarding production performance, employee matters, and operational challenges.
• Ensure effective handover of relevant information between shifts.
