Job Description

Job Purpose

To lead induction and shelving operations, while ensuring accurate stock placement, effective onboarding and training, and achievement of operational, quality and safety standards.

• Supervise daily operations within the induction and shelving department.
• Plan and deliver inductions for new starters, ensuring they understand policies, procedures, and expectations
• Provide hands-on training in shelving processes, layout systems, safety standards, and productivity requirements
• Monitor new team members during their initial period and provide coaching and feedback
• Maintain induction records and confirm training completion
• Act as the first point of contact for new staff queries during onboarding
• Lead and coordinate daily shelving activities to meet operational targets
• Allocate tasks and manage workflow to ensure efficient and accurate shelving
• Ensure items are shelved correctly according to layout, classification, or planograms
• Conduct quality checks to maintain accuracy, presentation, and organization
• Resolve shelving issues including misplacements, damages, or shortages
• Support the team with hands-on shelving when required

Job Requirements

Minimum Skills and Knowledge Required

• • Grade 12 or equivalent
    • Diploma or degree in Warehouse Management, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or related field.
    • Certificate in leadership & management would be advantageous
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a warehouse environment, including at least 2 years in a team leader role managing a team.
    • Sound knowledge of warehouse operations, including induction, shelving, and dispatching processes.
    • Working understanding of warehouse management systems (WMS), with exposure to Scale WMS and Amtrack would be advantageous.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, with the ability to capture, analyze, and report on operational data.
    • Strong understanding of team leading practices within a warehouse environment, including team coordination and workflow management.
    • Knowledge of standard operating procedures and quality control processes within an induction and shelving setting.
    • Basic understanding of health and safety regulations applicable to warehouse operations.
