SUMMARY: The Technical Construction Manager is responsible for the direct management and execution of site-based construction activities within a defined technical discipline. The role ensures the effective utilisation of labour, plant, materials, and subcontractors to achieve disciplined, productivity-driven delivery.

The primary accountability is to drive hands-on construction execution in accordance with approved technical specifications, standards, drawings, and method statements, while ensuring full compliance with SHEQ requirements. The TCM is responsible for maintaining construction quality, ensuring constructability of works, and resolving site-level technical challenges to prevent delays and rework.

The role operates within the timeframes and budgets established by the Project Manager (PM), Project Engineer (PE) and Project Construction Manager (PCM), with a strong focus on short-term planning, workface execution, and output performance. The TCM plays a critical role in translating construction plans into measurable site progress, ensuring that work fronts remain active, efficient, and aligned to project sequencing and delivery targets.

The TCM must be fully compliant to act as the CR8.1 or CR 8.2 as and when required.

Minimum Education

  • N6 Electrical Certificate or higher qualification in Electrical Engineering or related field. Qualified Electrician with a recognised Trade Test (Red Seal Certification)

Minimum work experience:

  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in the construction industry within the high voltage electrical infrastructure sector (Dx-, Tx Substations and/or Overhead Lines, and/or OHTE)
  • Proven experience in direct site execution and supervision of HV electrical works (Dx-, Tx Substations, and/or Overhead Lines, and/or OHTE)
  • Demonstrated ability in managing work fronts, labour, subcontractors, and plant on site
  • Strong track record in delivering work to technical specifications, quality standards, and SHEQ requirements
  • Experience in resolving site-level technical issues and maintaining productivity across work fronts
